FAKE FAKE DISPOSABLE LOVE

The video for Fake Fake’s ‘Disposable Love’ might just be the best thing that you’ll see all Valentine’s Day. Before the age of dating apps like Tinder, Hinge or Bumble, you may be left scratching your head in bewilderment as to how exactly people did meet whether to date or hook up before this wave of swipeable technology. Turns out the elegant art of making dating videos has been lost to the ‘80s, but here Fake Fake recreates the amourous zeitgeist of that special decade. Whether you’re vibing with Howard, Ethel, Ted, Barb or any of these delightfully awkward romancers, you’ll absolutely fall for the minimalist RnB and synth-pop sounds of ‘Disposable Love’. Here the band duo of Charlotte Hynds and Justin Campbell comment on this deliciously smooth track: "Disposable Love is our songwriting credo. Where love and intimacy is disposable and transient: something to discard completely or hold onto the tightest. A song for the fleeting nature of modern relationships in a landscape of deletable dating apps and daily existential ennui.” This whole track is chocka full of treats, whether that’s boyband-worthy pop melodies, synth flourishes or guest verse from rapper Josh Allen, it's a gem from start to finish. Happy V day, here’s our gift to you. - Hannah Thacker
